Yumi Nu made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2021 after being photographed by Yu Tsai in Tampa, Fla. When she returned to the magazine last year, she posed for James Macari in Montenegro and landed one of four iconic covers. Nu is back and better than ever for her third year with the franchise in the ’23 SI Swimsuit Issue. The model and musician worked with visual artist Amanda Pratt in Dominica.
“Shooting with a female photographer, shooting with Amanda Pratt, has been incredible,” Nu said while on location. “Woman-to-woman, you feel more comfortable to be vulnerable and try things and there’s just an understanding. Amanda really gets in the shot with you and gets in the water and gets down in the fishnet, she will do whatever it takes for the shot and for me, as a model, that means so much because it makes me motivated to get the shot.”

Nu added that she hopes young girls who see her images in the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue realize that it’s possible to be confident at any size, regardless of so-called “beauty standards.”
